How Much is That Doggie in the Window....

     I was out to lunch with a friend recently and we ended up being walking distance from my favorite stamp store in Roswell Georgia Impressive Ideas.  I couldn't be that close and not run in to look/shop.  These Puppies by Paper Smooches caught my eye immediately!  Not only are they adorable, but three short weeks ago we brought home a new little furry addition to our family and I have to admit to having had 'puppy on my mind' when I saw these.  Those big ole eyes were just calling to me - and how could I resist the perfectly matching paper by Bo Bunny in the Happy Tails Collection.  These were meant to be together. 

    With my newest assistant Riley at my feet I took advantage of his napping and inked up this new set.    

     This little fella below just calls out "Thinking of You" with those big old eyes and his sweet markings. 

      This paper was perfect, the sentiment is the top half of another sheet that I cut out and popped up to lay across the sheet....and that sweet little wiener dog looks ready to go home with someone.  This is a sentiment I can really relate to as I must have asked my husband this question at least a 1,000 times before he gave in. 

    I loved the bright prints of this 6 x 6 sheet - I added a few piercing details to the frame paper and the yellow piece across the middle. 

     The inside sentiment of two of the cards sums up true doggie love - I haven't even made a dent in the 6 x 6 pack of paper......and there are a few more stamps that need inking up..... but hey tomorrow is another day.

Gift set of cards

     This is a set of cards I made for a friend I met for lunch before the holidays. I found the warm earthy tones of the BoBunny paper very soothing.  The set contained four different styles of cards.  On this one I made the flowers used to embellish it and a stamp by Impression Obsession.

     The paper and sentiment from My Favorite Things on this card just screamed butterflies.......these are metal and add a nice touch.

     My friend likes chickens and roosters and swore she wouldn't send this one out as she wanted to hang it in her kitchen....I told her I can always make another one.  Colored this fella with some copic markers and used an embossing folder that looks like chicken wire for the background.

     This sentiment is a favorite Spellbinder die and the leaves are from some ribbon in my closet.  The sentiment is a stamp from Stampabilities.
     We had a great lunch together the day I gave her these cards - we even took some time to stop by one of my favorite stamp shops while we on that end of town.

Woman in Pink

     I'm not sure if its because I enjoy biking, or I am just getting older, but I just love this image by Mo Manning.  MuMu, who is of that age where a lady still wears a skirt to shop, looks as if she hasn't a care in the world as she bikes home from the market. Her plump rump is planted firmly on the seat as she pedals along with her face soaking up the sun, and her surroundings.  I can only hope I grow older with this same sense of empowerment, while still riding my bike.
     The flower I used is made from some crinolin and netting that I cut from a Sizzix die and colored with my Copics, after which I scrunched it all up around a brad..  The leaves are a Memory Box die.  I have been working on reorganizing my craft room and my sewing machine is now out and useable, so I just had to stitch around the outisde.  That and I thought it gave the card a more 'down home' look to go with this sweet image.  If you know me you are probably surprised there aren't pearls on this as I love 'pink and pearls'.......I don't think I'll add any, but sometimes cards change before they go in the mail :)
     For the challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs I have used, Stitching, Pink, Ribbon, Ink, Nestie, Green Leaves.  For the challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks I used material for my flower.

Flowers of Praise

     While there are many inspirational blogs to visit, I also love to peruse the gallery at Splitcoaststampers.  There is so much amazing talent from all over the world all within a click.  There are several galleries there that I check on a regular basis, one contains the 'fabulous' creations of Pat Smethers........not only does she create drop dead gorgeous, pick your jaw up off the counter top cards, she is filled with a love for the Lord that shines throughout so many of her creations.  She is a truly inspirational lady!! Her flowers and the layers of love she puts in each card really inspire me.  So many of her pieces include beautiful hand made flowers and with a recent tutorial she had I just knew I needed to sit and play......God blessed her with a real talent and I am blessed she shares it so freely at SCS.  Needless to say I had so much fun making these they are now covering my work space and I need to make some more cards to go with them.

Thinking of You.....

     There are a lot of changes when you make a move to a new State....giving up visiting your favorite stamp stores is one of those changes.  What a thrill when through Splitcoaststampers I learned from Jenny Gropp about a store not far from my new home.  I made my second visit there today and spent over an hour wandering and looking.  This card was made using a new stamp I purchased by Outlines Rubber Stamp Company.  Jenny does tutorials for the Outlines newsletter as well as working at the store and I was able to see several ways to use this stamp, but more important I learned about a wonderful dimensional silicone to pop the petals of the flower up.  Hopefully in the second picture below you can see how nicely this gives dimension to my flower.
     What fun it was playing with this stamp and I must warn you that I will probably do a few more cards to post as I keep thinking of new things to do with it.  This card will be entered in the Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge this where they are looking for cards that are "Thinking of You" themed......how convenient that I needed to make a card for that very purpose.

Small Packages....

     Like to follow Selma's Stamping Corner and she had the cutest little box posted with a tutorial.  There was a challenge over at Joan's Garden so I just had to play and make one of these.  Already thinking of papers to use to make more and fill them with goodies for stockings and friends at Christmas.  Selma has a step by step tutorial if you have never done this before. The red band slips over the whole box and serves as a great decoration piece as well as keeping the box closed.

Sunflower Surprise

I just had to make this card and share it.  Christmas morning as I peeked into my stocking I was totally surprised to find this stamp in a set by Stampendous (Sunflower Bouquet)!!!  My husband really surprised me - I never expected him to go into a stamp store and actually pick out  a stamp for me......after 30 years of marriage he continues to surprise me :)

I used Memento Ink to stamp on my Expressions paper and then colored it in with Copic Markers.  Used my latest Nestabilities  Beaded Oval as a background.  Found some awesome BoBunny paper that I ran thru the CB with some vines for a background and then put it all together.  There is a single sunflower in the set and I will use it to stamp on the outside of the envelope when I give this away.
